Pool Filter Cartridges

The cartridge is the consumable at the heart of a cartridge filter. Knowing when to rinse it, when to replace it, and how to match a replacement keeps your water clear and your filter healthy.

A cartridge traps debris in a pleated element. Rinsing restores most of its flow, but oils and fine particles gradually clog the pleats in a way a hose cannot clear, which is when a periodic deep soak or a replacement is due.

Replacements are matched by model and dimensions rather than brand alone. Keeping a spare on hand lets you swap and clean at leisure instead of leaving the pool unfiltered.

This page is a short orientation. A fuller write-up is on the way. In the meantime, see Pool Filters.
